Sustainability

We try our absolute hardest here at Albaek Studio to keep the business sustainable and give back to nature as much as we can. We ensure sustainability through a dedicated commitment to nature conservation.

We do that through donations of 5 DKK pr. order placed year-round to Den Danske Naturfond (“the Danish nature fund”), a national nature help organisation that aims to protect Denmark’s nature and wildlife habitats.

On donations:

As for donations, 5 DKK pr. order placed will be donated to Den Danske Naturfond. We have decided that annual donations will go towards sustainability and helping the environment, and more specifically helping the Danish nature.

Denmark is one of the countries in Europe that protects its nature the least, therefore as a Danish business Albaek Studio will take responsibility and do its best to give back to our much-loved nature and home.

Den Danske Naturfond also called Naturfonden is a privately owned non-profit that works to better Danish nature to ensure a good habitat for biodiversity. Naturfonden ensures more space and better space for nature in the whole country through buying land areas and restoring nature. The land areas range from the very south of Jutland close to Germany to the small islands of Denmark. Therefore, with the 5 DKK pr order Albaek Studio will be able to help big areas of Danish nature to good health and a good home for animals, plants and fungi.

Naturfonden is registered as an approved organisation under the Danish law and is held accountable under a list of requirements from the Danish government.

Our products:

A big part of keeping the business sustainable is to keep the lifespan of our products as long as possible. That means that our jewelry is made from high quality materials that are tarnish free and hypoallergenic. All metal components used are stainless steel, although it is important to remember that if you are severely allergic to nickel the metals may still cause some irritation. Aside from the metal components being stainless steel, the majority of our beads are made from glass, a variety of natural crystals and freshwater pearls. The beads are from a variety of places though primarily secondhand shops and small Danish businesses.

For our textile products and accessories our materials are sourced locally from thrift shops, local fabric shops and more. Any textile waste we make gets sorted and taken by the government to be reused in numerous ways.

We also have a strong value that we mustn't overproduce things that cannot be broken down and reused easily. Therefore, many of our home decor items are made to order, we only make what is being sold.

Our packaging:

The majority of our packaging is paper based. We package our jewelry on thick paper backing cards. Earrings are packaged in colored tissue paper and bubble wrap, and with every order follows a business card. Aside from that all orders are sent in either a white paper bubble-mailer or in a small cardboard box. The only plastic-based material in our packaging is a small bit of tape used to ensure that your order arrives safely without damage. We strongly encourage our customers to reuse and recycle the packaging if possible.

Use of AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Since the use of AI is also a sustainability problem for several reasons, we would like to briefly clarify that no media or text on the website is generated/written with AI. This has been very deliberately NOT used, as its consequences for the environment are not to be overlooked. All images, logos and texts are written/taken/made by me, a real person.

Our values

Sustainability

Sustainability is a core value here at Albaek Studio. Love of nature is a huge part of my life,
and it is a big source of inspiration for me as well. Therefore, it is beyond important to me to keep the business as sustainable as possible. We do this by being almost plastic-free and using paper products and donating to nature conservation. You can read more about our sustainability practices under "sustainability" in the menu.

Durability

A big value of ours is making items that are as durable as possible. We ensure that our items are as durable as possible through using high quality materials, while still keeping it
affordable. Our materials are sourced locally from both thrift stores and local independent shops. You can read more about our material use under "sustainability" in the menu.

If an item you have purchased breaks under transit or within a short time of you using it, please shoot us a message! Then we'll figure something out together.

Affordability

All our items are made in house by me (hi!) and are made by quality materials. Therefore, the price point will be higher than what you will see in regular shops. The price of our items, however, ensures that I will be able to live from selling my art at some point. We do still try to keep our items affordable, as it is a big value of ours that everyone deserves to be able to afford art.
